Tokyo Orientation
So my life in Japan began with a 3 day orientation in Tokyo. I've always heard about how crowed Tokyo is and how many people live there, so I always thought it would be a terrible place to live. But I was wrong! Although it is small and crowed they have used lots of imagination to make room for all the people that live there. It's such a fun city and so alive. There's always something to do, and for it's size it's pretty safe.
I was mostly excited about how many people of color are on the program with me! There were so many of us and I found a bunch of my sorority sisters are on the program too! That makes me feel alot better, knowing I'll have someone I can gripe to, who will understand my problems trying to find a place to get my hair done, or trying to find clothes in my size. ;op
This is such a great program!! I've met so many people here in Japan doing the same thing as me but without the benifits and they all wish they could be in the program too.
Well, that's about it for that. Now on with the pictures!!!

Living in Japan
So, I'm definitely in Japan now, and things are going great!!
Sorry, I haven't been posting much lately, but I haven't had access to the internet. I'm actually bootlegging somebody's wireless access with my wireless network card to get connected right now. Wireless networks are the great things ever invented!
So I don't really have much time, as I'm going to meet some people for lunch in a bit and I need to get dressed, but like I said before, Japan is going great!!
Iwate is such a beautiful place!!! The land is covered with the most beautiful and vibrant green because of all the rice fields. Not to mention the mountains that you can see in every direction that are covered by a mysterious haze. It's sooo wonderful. And as long as you have air conditioning, the weather isn't bad either. I however, do not and it's really, really hot!!! Which really sucks trying to ride my bike to and from school. Then to the grocery store and the hardware store, and everywhere else I need to go.
I also felt my very first earthquake ever in life!!! Apparently they get those often here.
Ok, well now I've got to run so I can get dressed.
I promise to update soon and and more pictures. Now that I found out I have bootlegg internet access, I can get on more frequently.

Graduation Fiesta
I had my graduation party and bon voyage last Sunday the 11th and it was a great time!!!
A lot of my friends from school and home came and partied with me. I had it in this really cute little club house in KC and I was extra excited because so many of my friends from Columbia came up to celebrate with me.
The whole shindig was organized and planned by my Mom, who's the best mom in the world by the way! She even found a guy to make a video collage from pictures of me when I was little up to my gradutation. It was really nice.
I was really excited that I got to see so many people before I left, because I knew I wasn't going to get to see a lot of them before I leave on the 31st.
Well, once I get my pictures developed I'll post some of them for all those that missed out and those that just want to see the pictures.

Starting Up
Well this will be my temporary log until I can get a website up. We'll just use this as a way for family and friends to keep up with me and what I'm doing.
Currently, I'm working and packing and bidding my time 'til my big send off. On July 31 I'll be making my way to Tokyo, Japan!!
The first 4 days in Japan I'll be attending many, many, many meetings during our orientation during the day. The evenings, however, will be filled of bar hopping and party going!! Whooo-hooo!.
After orientation I'll be moving to my new home in Hanamaki City in the Iwate prefecture. I'll spend the next year there as an assistant English teacher at Hanamaki Minami Senior High School.
I'm very excited about this new opportunity and hope all goes well.
Keep me in your prayers!
